I don't know how to call it but it is map on canvas made into awesome family fun.
Things you will need:
Map $24.99 at Barnes and Noble
Canvas (1,2 or 3 pieces, it is really up to you) $19.99 each at Michael's
Mod Podge $7.19 on Amazon
Foam brush $0.76 on Amazon
Black acrylic paint (optional) $0.97 at Walmart
Colorful pins $4.68 at Walmart
So we used map of size 53,5" x 33". And two canvases but I can't tell you what size, because our golden retriever pup chewed the paper. I think it was 20" x 28" but really I'm not sure at all.
Step 1: Cut the map into two pieces (in our case), it was actually exactly at 0" on the map. Use foam brush and mod podge and cover both (in my case two) canvases. You should act quickly before the mod podge gets dry.
Step 2: Put the map on the canvases, slowly from the middle spread your hands so you will avoid bubbles. Let dry.
Step 3 (optional): Use acrylic paint and paint visible white parts. We did that because the map was smaller than the canvas but it turned out great.)
All what is left is hang it on the wall and use pins and you are done. :-)
The last tip I'd suggest is that we used Command for hanging it. Nothing is visible and it holds perfectly.
